The educational forum took place in Perm.

Perm teachers have summarized the results of the last school year and defined the prospects of the coming one. The traditional teachers' conference held in August was attended by more than 400 headteachers, directors of kindergartens and directors of additional training institutions.

Lyudmila Gadzhieva, the Head of the Department for Education of Perm City Administration, announced the priority tasks for our educational system. The most important task is to raise the quality of education. According to Lyudmila Gadzhieva we have enough "blank spaces" to work at, e.g. providing training to pass the Unified State Examination.

Lyudmila Gadzhieva mentioned successful educational projects, which were carried out in Perm, e.g. the International Education programme. According to this programme on assignment of Igor Shubin, the Mayor of Perm, 6 organization departments of schools with advanced languages study such as "German" school # 12 and "French" school # 22 will be set up.

The main measures to improve the situation in preschool education were determined at the forum. They include implementation of the market mechanisms in preschool education, payment of benefits to the parents, whose children are aged from 1,5 to 5 and do not attend kindergartens, handing over the buildings of kindergartens on the basis of concession agreements, active work with the private kindergartens and centres.

To provide competitive development of the additional training institutions and to increase the quality of education it is necessary to give equal opportunities in getting education in all institutions such as schools, public and private institutions for additional training to all young citizens.

Igor Shubin, the Mayor of Perm, also underlined that our main task was to increase the quality of school education. We are able to equalize the quality of education in central and non-central districts of our city. We encourage parents send their children to a school in their district and we must ensure high quality of the education there. According to Igor Shubin it is necessary to make a rating list at the end of each term and to publish it in the mass media and in the Internet to provide the parents with the information about the quality of education.

Lyudmila Sukhanova, the Headteacher of the gymnasium # 2, says: "We have a lot of ambitious plans how to improve our education, this means that many interesting and substantial work is to be done.
